I upgraded my speed from 1.5 to 3Mb. My phone line got disconnected while i was away. I came back and got my phone line running again. Took DSL Extreme 10 days to get my line up and running again. They extended my contract and now they are saying that i can't get 3Mb anymore because i am too far away. Don't waste you time with this company. You will be better off dealing directly with the phone company. DSLExtreme now wants me to pay $250 for early termination.

Curious - I just had a similar issue. Loyal customer for 3+ years, on 1500/384 plan (actual speed more like 1200/300). I noticed for $2 more per month I could "upgrade" to 3000/512. They were more than happy to take my money, but no change in speed. After multiple calls to tech support, they determine I couldn't possibly get a higher speed because I'm too far away from CO. Then they refuse to downgrade me without another 1 year commitment at a higher price!!!??!?!? WHAT???

I've been with DSLEXTREME for 8 years and have seen them degrade from a local high performance, high available ISP to a sub-average outsourced call center that only wants your money. I just moved back to AT&T because I'm tired of DSLEXTREME always claiming that whatever problem I have is AT&T's not theirs. Now, they are saying I will have to pay a penalty for early cancellation of my contract if I cancel (after 8 years). They claim I renewed my contract last April 12, and thus will owe more that $200 to leave their sorry performance behind. Can't seem to talk to anyone but the call center in the Philipines on their pubished phone numbers and I'm getting pretty frustrated. I certainly didn't open a new contract after 6 years beyond the comittment period without one, but the call center on the other side of the world says I did. I've already wasted $200 worth of my time on this, but I feel like it's a matter of principle to fight back. It's really frustrating to be unable to escalate beyone the call center in a foreign country, and the refusal to transfer you to anyone else. Stay away from DSLEXTREME!
